The expansion of investment and extractive activities in Cabo Delgado calls for a permanent forum to discuss and monitor their impacts on workers, communities and the environment. Against this backdrop, the Centro para Democracia e Direitos Humanos (CDD) will hold the first meeting of the Cabo Delgado Provincial Working Group on Business and Human Rights on 9 October 2026 in Pemba. The meeting will bring together public institutions, companies, community representatives, civil society organisations and justice sector actors to formally establish the Working Group, define its coordination structure and approve its work plan. Participants will also discuss the review of business and human rights developments in Cabo Delgado during the first half of 2026 and identify priorities for follow-up. The Working Group aims to bring the implementation of Mozambique’s National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights closer to the concerns of workers and affected communities. |
