CNOCC  with no license for  five exploration blocks

China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC )does not have an environmental license that allows it to drill. The company is currently applying for a license from the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment, and Fisheries, but to do so, it must conduct an environmental impact assessment and consult with local communities.

They will be consultations in Inhambane, Beira, Govuro, Inhassoro, Vilanculos this week on the Environmental Pre- Feasibility and Scoping Report. https://moz24h.co.mz/cnocc-with-award-of-5-exploration-blocks/

The concession contract granted to CNOOC violates the principle of due process, which stems from the principle of prevention and rules of international custom, as well as the Environment Law, which establishes that the environmental license precedes and conditions all other types of licenses or decisions on activities that have an impact on the environment.

Taking note of the announcement by the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy during the African Mining Indaba that CNOOC would begin drilling this March. (Moz24h)
