MAPUTO, October 14, 2026 — Maputo is hosting a three-day high-level international dialogue from Wednesday to Friday, October 16, bringing together policymakers, academics, philanthropic leaders, civil society representatives and private-sector actors to discuss Africa’s role in a changing global order.
The event, titled “Africa and the Remaking of Global Power: Multilateralism, Resource Sovereignty and the Politics of Resourcing,” is organised by the Centre on African Philanthropy and Social Investment (CAPSI), in partnership with other institutions.
According to the organisers, the dialogue will explore Africa’s position in the evolving international landscape, the governance of critical resources and the systems through which African societies can mobilise resources to finance their own development priorities.
Discussions will focus on multilateralism, resource sovereignty and the financing of Africa’s social and economic development. Participants are expected to examine how African countries can strengthen their capacity to make decisions about the management and exploitation of natural resources, while ensuring that the resulting economic benefits contribute to the needs of their populations.
The meeting will also consider the role of philanthropy, social investment, governments, the private sector and civil society in mobilising resources to support African-led development priorities.
By bringing together stakeholders from different sectors, the dialogue aims to provide a platform for exchanging ideas on the challenges and opportunities facing the continent as it seeks a stronger voice in international decision-making and greater control over its development agenda.
The organisers have not yet provided further details about the confirmed participants, the programme for individual sessions or the expected outcomes of the discussions.
The event runs from October 14 to 16, 2026, in Maputo, Mozambique.
