Vulcan continues to operate section 6 with impunity even after suspension by the court
Vulcan Mozambique SA, a mining company that operates in the province of Tete, district of MOATIZE continues to operate even after the decision of the Provincial administrative court decided to paralyze sections 4 and 6. It is clear that they are facing a crime of disobedience. Residents have reported and sent images (photos and videos) that prove that the court orders were completely ignored by Vulcan Mozambique S.A.
According to Moatize residents contacted by Moz24h “It is clear that Vulcan does not respect the health and well-being of the MOATIZE communities, the commission has received a lot of pressure from residents in order to let them invading the mine and paralyze activities until the situation is resolved as the company does not respect the court’s decision.”
Moz24h knows that Vulcan submitted an appeal to the Administrative Court to appeal the decision for not agreeing with the closure decision which was sent to Maputo on 13/01/2025 so far but the response has not arrived and the company continues to harm thousands of lives
