The Judicial Court of the City of Pemba ordered the return of the computer, two mobile phones and a tablet seized from journalist Estácio Valoi almost three months ago.
According to the court order, cited by MISA Moçambique, the steps that justified the seizure of the equipment were completed, leading the court to revoke the measure.
The seizure will be related to a journalistic investigation into alleged environmental crimes and timber smuggling.
MISA expressed concern about the impact of prolonged retention of work tools on journalistic activity, warning of the need to protect freedom of the press, freedom of expression, the right to information and the confidentiality of sources.
WHY? WHY? WHY? FOR WHAT? (Moz24h)
